Roadtrip day 3 - Part 2

We made a stop at a fish farm and fed some fish (didn't go fishing since "catch & release" was not allowed and we didn't feel like driving 5 hours in a hot car with a dead fish in the back seat!)

Then we took a 2-hour drive through the incredible green Yarra National Park, going up and down a huge mountain via tiny winding roads with no security barriers.

Came down the mountain and had late lunch at a blueberry Winery. Pancakes with fresh fruit and scones with homemade jam and cream. Yum!

We also made it to Healesville Sanctuary visiting all the lovely Australian animals.

We ended up in Melbourne in the late afternoon, catching up with our good friend Anne and joining her and some friends for a great dinner before "crashing" on her couch.

Finally in Melbourne after our exciting and rewarding roadtrip ;)

Roadtrip day 3 - Part 1

After Sami sitting behind the wheel for 2 long days, Sharni had to step up and take over. I was driving for at least one hour before we switched "back to normal" with Sami driving and me in the passenger seat. Nice! I guess my job as the passenger is to navigate, but as you know I can easily get lost in my own pocket, so thank god for GPS.

Getting closer to Melbourne crossing beautiful areas.

And stopping for a car wash...

After which we were starring like crazy, trying to spot Koalas, through the very clean windows.

We were not very succesfull or lucky Koala-spotting, but we stayed happy and active...

Roadtrip day 2

Still bad weather, but a much better start of day 2 with amazing nature and views through Kangaroo Valley.

Driving through Morton National Park via incredible winding roads ending up at the beautiful and HUGE Fitzroy Falls. Unfortunally the weather and mist were "hiding" most of the waterfall, so we had to visit the gift shop to see what the complete waterfall really looks like.

Heading towards Albury, the weather changed from 14C and heavy rain, to 34C and clear blue sky. Wow! A very nice change allowing us to properly enjoy the fantastic surroundings changing in the extreme from rain forrest, tropical fields and wineyards to pine trees and dessert-like areas.

Albury is a nice little town. This is were we are staying tonight...

Roadtrip

The first day of our roadtrip between Sydney and Melbourne. We got a lovely car that is comfy, automatic and fast :)

A drive through Royal National Park in not quite satisfying weather...

Following the Grand Pacific Drive, we crossed The Sea Cliff Bridge in even worse weather.

Made a stop in Kiama and checked out the blow holes, that didn't blow that much!

Ending up at the Guiness Book of World Records' whitest beach, where we thought we could stay the night in a nice beach hotel, but no no... We drove around for 3 hours trying to find vacancy. So much for being spontaneous and not planning ahead! Tired and hungry we ended up in a "hotel" in Milton (a town far away from the beach), were we didn't get any sleep due to traffic noise.

Maybe not the perfect first roadtrip day...
